Yesterday in science we learnt about the Big bang theory – theory’s of how the universe started.

The Big bang theory is about how the universe started from a tiny, hot and dense point that expanded from a small little hole that has expanded into the universe we know to day as it still expands and when it gets bigger it’s also getting cooler.

2. The theory suggests that the universe was made 13.8 billion years ago.
3. George Lemaitre in the 1920s, he was a priest and a physicist, he was the first to propose that the universe started from a tiny, hot point.
4. When matter started to clump together gravity was formed, huge clouds of hydrogen and helium was formed into by gravity it formed stars.
5. Cosmic Microwave Background (CBM) is when the first light was emitted by the stars in the first generations of stars.

This week we are having a school production on Wednesday and Thursday night. Our studio is doing Diwali celebration which is a Indian tradition since this year the theme of our school is celebration.

I am in a Diya scene (Diyas are little bowls made out of clay and you put a candle in it) when our scene plays we have to walk onto the stage in the full dark with just our Diya and candle. we had to make our own Diya out of clay and we had to paint them white then we did a base colour and the secondary colours and A design.

I showed resilience while painting when I made a mistake, I showed integrity  when the teachers were helping some one else and I just focused and did my work.

I got 100/100 in under 5 minutes on a multiplication quiz out of 100 questions in 10 minutes and next week we are doing a division test. This test I got really stuck on the 8 and 7 times tables. I also found the ten times tables easy just because I just added a 0 to what ever I was multiplying by.

My goals is to get under 7 minutes on the division and on this one to get under 4:30 next time. I found it challenging and easy at the same time but I finished and had a little fun while doing it.

On Thursday for tech I started making a headphone stand for my room. For that I had to measure the correct lengths and widths so it’ll hold them first I had to cut my wood on my markings so it was the right lengths. After I did that I glued two pieces of wood to make a base then in a cube shape then I made and glued legs to make my headphones stand, my headphone stand is going to be  cube person with legs, a face and a tongue sticking out so I can lay my headphones on it.

Another thing that I found challenging this week was literacy because we had to finish one thing everyday and I just finished before the end of Thursday it was also fun to do. We had t0 do motes, story’s and reading even though it was hard it was fun to do.

One rise value I think I used was empathy and success because I finished all my literacy work, my mahi a tahi and inquiry. I also helped my friends with work and helped them when they didn’t know what to do.

Today in maths we gathered data and used google sheets to make a column graph. Our topic was preferred drinks and our variable was gender.

The features of my graph are the titles “preferred drinks in Sharon’s maths group” and the labeling.

From the graph I notice that most people don’t] like fizzy there are only 2 boys and 0 girls.

I think this week the thing I felt challenging was choice and challenge because of all the little kids. We had to help kids learn how to play dodgeball and making sure they listened and followed the rules. The first game we led was deathmatch we watched and helped people that either got hurt or weren’t following the rules. The second game we played was normal dodgeball the teams were the seniors vs the kids from Rongomatane and Papatuanuku.

The thing I enjoyed in my week was tech because I finished my project for woodwork/hard materials, and I got to bring it home we also have started making stickers for my box. I made my box for my phone, lollies and money. My box also includes a swivel lid and a false base so I can hide stuff from my parents and siblings so they don’t sneakily take my stuff away.

Throughout the week I think I showed resilience.

This is my reflective blog for Week 6.

One thing I achieved this week  was learning some swimming techniques and how to get better at previous swimming skills.

Another thing I did was I led dodgeball for choice and challenge for my first time with Archie, Travis and Jamahni in the hall.

One challenge I had was Maths because we started learning to measure perimeter and area. 

Today we did 100 division questions in 10 minutes

I got 96 out of 100 in 7 minutes and 17 seconds

I did worse than the multiplication.

Next time I want to get 100 out of 100.

To do this, one fact I’m going to focus on 42 divided by 6.

This week I went swimming for the first time of the year because I didn’t want to before but on Monday I went in and had fun and learnt a lot with Mr Redmond now everyday I cant wait to go swimming in the morning and learn how to swim better. Overall I think my week went all good and I hope next week is just the same.

Today we learnt about water safety – 3 things to remember near water and in water, walk around water, be with an adult at all times well in water and always stay within the flags at a beach.

Most people that drown are males, most people drown that are 65 or older.

One thing I always remember is to stay with a parent or someone older then 18.
