Whats the most common eye colour?

For maths we made a google form, with a question, our question was, Whats the most common eye colour? We had to think of our answers they had to have multiple questions. Then, I sent my google form out to my class for people to fill out. Next, I drew my graph of the results in my book. Finally, I made a bar graph on my chromebook with all the results.

Protest Art

For art we have been doing protest Art. First, we had to practice our block letters. Then, we chose our phrase mine was, keep us cool – stop climate change. We wrote the letters we practised into the phrase we chose. Next, we painted the letters and the whole background with different types of colours. Finally, we traced around our letters with vivid to make all the words stand out.

Patterns

For maths we had to make 3 patterns, a rotating pattern, reflecting pattern and a translating pattern.

For the rotating pattern I had to spin the arrows, for the reflecting I had to flip the shape around 4 times, finally, we had to make a translating pattern this one was the easiest because all we had to do was move the shape over.

Our Action

The action my group is taking is Climate change.

The reason we chose climate change is because when we are older its going to affect us more and it will get worse over the years. I’m working with Daetyn, River and Dylan. I chose them because I work well with them and they’re my friends and I have fun working with them.

What do you know about  climate change?

Keeping Ourselves Safe

Keeping Ourselves Safe

We did it with the year 6 in TWM and a police officer called Constable Jeff.

Constable Jeff  told us about how to keep ourselves safe.

We did it on the 17th of September.

We did it in the big breakout in TWM.

We learnt how to keep ourselves safe when we are in trouble.

I learnt

  • That it’s never the victim’s fault.
  • If you are in trouble at home go  next door to a neighbour or family or friends house close to you where you can run to.
  •  If someone touches you in an inappropriate way you should tell an adult you trust.
  • We learnt about different types of abuse like neglect, family abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and child abuse.
  • I learnt that police officers don’t carry a gun at all times.

I found sitting down quietly most challenging because I had to sit there for 1 hour and I got really bored on some parts of the lesson.

Do you know how to keep yourself safe?

Ki-o Rahi

For Monday Mashup we played Ki-O Rahi. We learnt about the  purakau (narrative) of the game and then had a go.

I felt challenged because it was my first time playing and I was really stressed, I didn’t know the rules really well. I showed resilience because I didn’t give up and kept trying. I showed sportsman ship by helping everyone when they were struggling. I recommend Ki-O Rahi because it is a really fun game to learn and play with your friends and its very simple when you play for a while.

NZSL

For Monday mashup we have been learning one of Aoteroa’s official languages.

First, we learnt the alphabet and how to count to 10. Next, we learnt to say “hello my name is Elijah”. Finally, we learnt how to spell our names. this is the video of me introducing myself in NZSL. I have also learnt 5 extra words. My 5 extra words are mother, brother, father, sister and run.

Do you know how to say your name in sign language?

Matariki Pixel Art

For Cybersmart on Monday we did Matariki pixel art. I made a little ghost with black white and pink.

I had to use the letter keys to choose what colour to use, black was A, white is E, pink is I. The thing I found fun was choosing what to make.

The thing I found challenging was finding how to make the ghost using the keys.

Maori Bone Carving

For the last 3 weeks we have been making a Maori bone carving.

I made a fish hook,  I made it for my uncle because it was his 21st birthday, I choose the fish hook because I have one and I wanted to give him one so we had the same, the thing I found challenging was rolling the clay into shape and then carving it, I enjoyed doing the planing because I got to think of what I wanted to do, I think next time I would do the patterns differently.
